The 21st Foundation Day of EMPI Business School was celebrated on 28th October 2015 in the Campus.
Dr. Nagesh Kumar, Head, United Nations ESCAP South and South-West Asia Office, New Delhi was invited to be the Chief Guest of the function. Earlier to this Dr Kumar was the Director, Macro-Economic Policy and Development Division and Chief Economist UN-ESCAP HQ., Bangkok.
The Chief Guest was received as per EMPI’s traditional honor and President EMPI introduced the Institute and senior faculty at an informal interaction held in the Board Room. It was also gratifying that Ms Tara Sinha Head Academic Advisory Council of EMPI was present at the interaction.
The function started with the dignitaries lighting the auspicious lamp. The President formally welcomed the Chief Guest and introduced him to the audience composed of EMPI’s students, faculty and staff and told about the impressive credentials of Dr Nagesh Kumar. President explained the historic role played by Mr. Ajit Haksar, Chairman Emeritus of ITC Ltd in the formation of EMPI in 1995 and the substantial contribution provided by him for the growth of EMPI till his demise in 2005. Following this a floral tribute was offered to Founders picture by the dignitaries and students. A film clip on Mr. Ajit Haksar’s association with EMPI was also shown to the audience.
The Chief Guest gave away the Scholarship cheques to the meritorious students. Further he unveiled the Upgraded ISO International Quality Standard Certificate Plaque. Subsequently Dr Kumar delivered the Founder’s Day Memorial Lecture in which he explained to the audience how the Indian Economy is poised to grow fast. He specifically mentioned that no international investor can afford to ignore the $ 2 Trillion economy like India at its own peril. He assured that through this a confident developed India will emerge and the students would be the citizens of a fast growing India. He exhorted the students to be positive and confident about their future careers in the Corporate Sector and invited them to give their utmost to the building of the nation and participate in its prospects.
The President presented a memento to the Chief Guest and also an Honorary Membership to the IIIC of EMPI.
The function concluded with a vote of thanks.
