Current Corporate Buzz Word: “CSR”

EMPI students attended the 6th Global CSR Summit organized by ASSOCHAM and Ministry of Corporate Affairs at Hotel Shangri La, New Delhi on 25th Feb, 2014. The theme of the summit was “Creating Social Values and Impact through Innovations”

CSR is currently a major agenda point in most board meetings. It has been recognized by the Corporate that it is not the sole responsibility of the governments alone to create larger platforms for inclusive growth but the corporate has a key role to deliver and share a part of their prosperity with the under privileged, the deprived and the lowest rung of the human pyramid. The initiative of the government to integrate CSR as a part of business plans is an epoch making step reflecting the urgency for an inclusive society with greater involvement of business with society. 

The Summit was attended by Justice V. N. Khare, Former Chief Justice of India , Shri Rana Kapoor, President, ASSOCHAM & Founder, Managing Director & CEO, YES Bank, Shri Sunil Kanoria, Senior Vice President, ASSOCHAM & Co-Founder and Vice Chairman, SREI Infrastructure Finance Ltd., Ms. Preeti Malhotra, Chairperson, ASSOCHAM National Council for Corporate Affairs & CSR and ED & Group President – Corporate Affairs, Spice Group. The Chief Guest of the function was Mr. Sachin Pilot, Minister of Corporate Affairs. The function was also attended by Mr. Kapil Sibal, Minister of Science and Technology. 

Some of the interesting CSR presentations during the Summit were “YES, I am the change film project” by Ms Prerna Langa, CEO YES Foundation; Bharti Foundation-Sharing Experiences by Mr. Vijay Chadda, CEO Bharti Foundation; MIRCHI Cares-A CSR initiative of Radio Mirchi by Ms. C. Pallavi Rao Narvekar, Group Head, CSR, Radio Mirchi; Tech Mahindra Foundation SMART programme by Ms Loveleen , CEO Tech Mahindra 

The summit turned out to be very interesting and knowledgeable for the EMPI students to directly hear from the CSR Experts, they also interacted and asked various questions from them. Prof. G. Kathuria and Ms Vijaylaltha accompanied the students at the Summit.
