The 22nd Foundation Day of EMPI Business School was celebrated on 4th October 2016 in the Campus. Mr. A.K. Bhattacharya, Editorial Director, Business Standard, was the Chief Guest of the function.

The President and faculty members received him as per EMPI’s traditional welcome. A short informal meeting with the academic counsel members was held prior to the function. The function started with the dignitaries lighting the auspicious lamp and the reciting of the Saraswati Vandana by students. Floral tribute was given to the photograph of Late Mr. Ajit N Haksar, by the dignitaries, faculty, and students. This was followed by a video presentation in his memory. In his welcome address, the President explained the historic role played by Mr. Ajit N Haksar, Chairman Emeritus of ITC Ltd in the foundation of EMPI in 1995 and the substantial contribution provided by him for the growth of EMPI till his demise in 2005.

The Chief Guest gave away the Merit Awards to the meritorious students who excelled in EMPI’s various excellence parameters and various activities and contests. The new batch of students took the pledge to uphold the values of integrity, discipline, mutual respect, teamwork, being a good professional, and a human being.

On completion of the award ceremony, the Chief Guest delivered the “Mr. Ajit N Haksar Memorial Lecture - 2016”. He after having highlighted the leadership qualities of the legendary Mr. Haksar in transforming ITC from Imperial Tobacco into a diversified conglomerate spoke on the subject “A six point Agenda for Tomorrow’s Managers”. He explained to the audience how the current situation of the Indian economy, the future predictions, and how young managers of today have to adapt to it. He exhorted the students to look for opportunities that are emerging in different new fields than what it used to happen in the past. It was a very thought provoking speech. The audience gave a standing ovation at the end of his lecture. 

The President presented the honorary membership card of the “Innovative India International Centre” and a memento to the chief guest. This was followed by a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Sivakumar, the Director.
